Italian Grand Prix: Round Up

"I had a big flat spot and I wasn't sure if the tyre would survive." ...Sebastian Vettel

I have to admit that although I have had my favourite drivers over the years, in general I'm a fan of exciting championship battles more than I'm a fan of any specific driver.  However, after Sebastian Vettel claimed his 6th victory of the season, the chances of a dramatic finish to the season are looking extremely slim.

There are still seven races to go, but Sebastian Vettel now has a 53 point lead over nearest rival Fernando Alonso, and the bookies have Vettel priced at between 1.02 to 1.04 to retain the formula 1 driver's championship.

Here's a quick round-up of how my Monza bets got on...

Post Qualifying Tips:

Shorter Priced Bets:

Double Points Finish:
20 points on Red Bull at 1.4 (Paddy Power) - WIN 28 points
Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel were both on the podium, ensuring Red Bull's 10th double points scoring finish of the season.

Top Six Finish:
10 points on Lewis Hamilton at 1.7 (William Hill) - LOSS
Lewis had a slow puncture early in the race, as well as radio problems, and eventually came home in 9th position.

Lap 1 Retirements:
20 points on Lap 1 Retirements - Nil at 1.5 - LOSS
Paul di Resta's retirement on the opening lap meant that this usual safe bet for once was a losing bet.

Making an overall return of 28 points from 50 points and therefore my ongoing total now stands at 84 points.

Taking A Risk/Longer Priced Bets:

Race Winner:
10 points eachway (20 points in total) on Fernando Alonso at 6.5 (SkyBet*) - Eachway Win 21 points
Alonso chased Vettel hard but in the end second place was the best he could manage, ensuring at least that the eachway part of this bet was a winning bet.

* SkyBet pay 1/5 the odds for the first 3 places.

First Team To Retire:
10 points on Caterham at 8.0 (Ladbrokes, Bet Victor) - LOSS
Force India had the 'honour' of first car retirement thanks to Paul di Resta's accident on the opening lap.

Match Bets:

10 point accumulator on:  (SkyBet) - LOSS
Jenson Button V Sergio Perez - Sergio Perez at 2.25
Lewis Hamilton V Kimi Raikkonen - Lewis Hamilton at 1.73

Making an overall return of 21 points from 40 points and therefore my ongoing total now stands at 21 points.

Pre-Qualifying Tips:

Shorter Priced Bets:

Podium Finish:
10 points on Lewis Hamilton at 2.0 (Boylesports) - LOSS

Qualifying Match Bet:
10 points on Jenson Button V Sergio Perez - Sergio Perez at 2.75 (SkyBet) - WIN 28 points
It was close, but Sergio edged out Jenson in qualifying by 13 thousandths of a second.

Qualifying Winning Margin:
10 points on Under 0.2 Seconds at 1.73 (William Hill) - LOSS
Sebastian Vettel took pole from team-mate Mark Webber by 0.213 seconds.

Making an overall return of 28 points from 30 points and therefore my ongoing total now stands at 74 points.

Taking A Risk/Longer Priced Bets:

Pole Position:
10 points on Lewis Hamilton at 2.75 (Bet365, William Hill, Paddy Power) - LOSS
Lewis was less than pleased with his qualifying performance and his run of poles came to an end as he lined up 12th on the grid.

Top Six Finish:

10 points on Sergio Perez at 6.0 (William Hill) - LOSS

Qualifying Match Bets:
10 point accumulator on:  (SkyBet) - LOSS
Lewis Hamilton V Nico Rosberg - Lewis Hamilton at 1.36
Sebastian Vettel V Mark Webber - Sebastian Vettel at 1.14
Kimi Raikkonen V Romain Grosjean - Romain Grosjean at 2.1

Making an overall return of 0 points from 30 points and therefore my ongoing total now stands at 71 points.

. . . . . . . .

The Monza bet in play odds were pretty unremarkable during the race and qualifying, so I'll be skipping the bet in play charts this time.  As usual though, I'll be rounding up the latest form guide and betting statistics in the run up to the Singapore Grand Prix.
